WHAT IS EYEBROW MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a type of permanent makeup that delivers natural-looking eyebrows with fine individual hairs. This specialist technique adds pigment beneath the upper reticular layer of the skin for a permanent naturally defined eyebrow shape.

WHO IS MICROBLADING FOR?

Eyebrow microblading is ideal for those who have over-plucked, light-coloured or thin eyebrows that need to be filled in or redefined. Microblading can also reconstruct and redefine the eyebrow shape, whether you want a feathered arch or a straight bold look.

Like other permanent eyebrow techniques, microblading is ideal for:

  • People with sensitive skin who cannot use cosmetics
  • People with limited vision or cannot apply makeup without glasses
  • Stroke survivors, people with arthritis, Parkinson’s disease or other medical conditions that prevent them from applying cosmetic makeup
  • Sport enthusiasts such as swimmers, runners and cyclists who want to look their best but will sweat off cosmetics
  • People who are too busy to spend hours on their appearance but need to look their best

DOES MICROBLADING CAUSE ALLERGY PROBLEMS?

Doctors actually recommend eyebrow microblading and other permanent makeup treatments for people who are allergic to cosmetics. While an allergic reaction to the pigment in any cosmetic tattoo treatment is possible, it is extremely rare.

We carry out a small patch test during your initial consultation 24 hours prior to the procedure to ensure you do not have an allergic reaction. All equipment and microblading pigments used by Microblading Eyebrows comply with international cosmetology and medical requirements.

HOW DOES MICROBLADING DIFFER FROM PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Microblading is a type of semi permanent makeup that uses a finer specialised tool to create a natural eyebrow effect, hair by hair rather than as a bold continuous line. Microblading is also known as cosmetic tattooing, eyebrow embroidery, micropigmentation or dermagraphics.

IS EYEBROW MICROBLADING PERMANENT?

Eyebrow microblading is considered a semi-permanent procedure. It does not wash off and will look good for 1 to 2 years depending on how you care for your eyebrows. The pigment used during the process will begin to fade after time and is therefore termed “semi-permanent”.

IS MICROBLADING EXPENSIVE?

Microblading costs vary, but you are likely to be surprised at how affordable microblading can be.It offers good long-term value and saves time during your daily getting ready routine. Some people offer under £100 special offers, whilst others offer treatment costs up to around £800. Standard costs are around £300, this price would usually include the initial treatment and a top up around four weeks later.  Things to consider are not to always go for the cheapest procedure, but to choose a licensed and skilled microblading service that you can trust to provide a safe and pleasing result. Check out our microblading price list for full details.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING TAKE?

The initial microblading procedure takes around 1 to 2 hours. This includes prep time discussing the look you want to achieve with your eyebrow shaping. The eyebrows will initially be drawn with a pencil to define the exact final shape. You will also have to choose the colour and the density you want before the eyebrow microblading procedure begins.

DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

Microblading can cause a small amount discomfort, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being very painful, many people say they would say they feel around a 3.  An anaesthetic is applied to the skin before we start the clinical procedure.

Please bear in mind that thousands of body tattoos are performed over large areas of skin with no anaesthetics at all. However, permanent cosmetic procedures such as eyebrow microblading come under the luxury treatment category and so we make every effort to ensure all our customers are comfortable and relaxed.

IS SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP SAFE?

As a microblading professional, working in the semi permanent/permanent makeup sector we must be fully trained to provide a completely safe environment for our microblading treatments. Tools are properly sterilised; needles are aways new, sterile and unopened. Technicians should use disposable one-time machine parts for complete safety and they should be disposed of correctly in a sharps container as per clinical guidelines. Disposable aprons and gloves should be used for each new patient and the treatment area should be free of other contaminants such as nail dust, aerosols and chemicals used in hair dye, for example.

ARE THERE ANY MICROBLADING SIDE EFFECTS?

Eyebrow microblading produces very few problems or side effects, unlike eyeliner or lip permanent makeup which may result in some mild swelling or bruising. The eyebrow areas may feel slightly tender to the touch for a few days after microblading. The eyebrow colour will be darker for the first few days but will lighten, final colour will be seen around 7-10 days,
